940 Weekends. That’s it!

Today Happens Once. Make it Count.

Time is precious, and nowhere is that more evident than in the fleeting moments we have with our kids. On average, we have just 6,570 days from the day they’re born until they turn 18. That’s roughly 940 weekends.

At first glance, it might seem like plenty. But how many of those days are already spoken for—rushed mornings, packed schedules, endless emails, and the constant pull of distractions? Before we know it, those days start slipping through our fingers like sand.

Here’s the sobering truth: many things are out to steal our time and attention—work deadlines, social media, the endless stream of “to-dos.” While these things demand our focus, our kids rarely do. They won’t remind us to sit with them, play with them, or be fully present. But what they do notice—what they will always remember—is when we choose to make them a priority.

Being Present Matters

Being present isn’t just about proximity; it’s about intentionality. It’s choosing to make dinner time a moment for connection, setting down the phone during their stories, and turning ordinary moments into sacred ones. It’s about showing them they matter—not with our words but with our undivided attention.

Why It Counts

One day, the weekends will dwindle to fewer than 100. The days will no longer stretch ahead but be counted in single digits—college move-ins, family holidays, and occasional visits. What we do now sets the foundation for the kind of relationships we’ll have with them in the future.

So, let’s not wait for “someday.” Let’s make today, this weekend, count. Let’s step into the moment, shutting out the noise and giving our kids the gift of presence.

Because life isn’t measured by the number of things we’ve accomplished but by the moments that truly mattered.

A Challenge for This Week

What’s one way you can intentionally connect with your kids this week? Maybe it’s a Saturday morning pancake breakfast, a spontaneous walk, or simply putting away distractions for an hour to play a game or share a story.

Let’s make every moment count, because the clock isn’t stopping—and neither are the opportunities to show them we care.

Together, let’s live with intention.
